Katinka Band

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Katinka Band formed around singer-songwriter Katinka Bjerregaard and musician-producer Simon Ask, later joined by additional members to shape a group positioned between alternative pop and Danish indie rock. The project first developed through several EPs, and in 2017 Katinka Band released their debut album “Vi er ikke kønne nok til at danse”, which situates the group within a local scene where the Danish language plays a central role in the writing. Combining electric guitars, sometimes rough arrangements and melancholic melodies, Katinka Band’s music rests on introspective lyrics and a frontal vocal delivery, often highlighted by restrained productions. The 2018 album “Vokseværk” continued this exploration of pop-rock tinged with folk and discreet electronic touches, while “Ekstremsport” (2021) accentuates the band’s more direct, rhythmic side. Katinka Band regularly tours Denmark and the Nordic countries, participating in a network of venues and festivals dedicated to contemporary music, and has over the years developed a recognizable sonic identity centered on the coherence between Katinka Bjerregaard’s writing and the band’s arrangements.
