Love Shop
Formed in Copenhagen in the late 1980s, Love Shop became part of the Danish rock scene with a blend of melodic pop, guitar-driven rock and new wave influences, supported by Danish-language lyrics focused on the city, relationships and a kind of melancholic realism. The band's original core brought together singer-songwriter Jens Unmack, guitarist-producer Hilmer Hassig and harmonica player Henrik Hall, a trio that gradually made its name on Denmark’s club and festival stages. They released a series of notable albums in their trajectory, including «1990» (1990), «DK» (1992), «Billeder af verden» (1993), «Det eneste der duer» (1995), «Go!» (1997) and a self-titled record in 1998 that consolidated Love Shop’s aesthetic between melodic songwriting and more electric sounds. After «Anti» (2001) and «National» (2003), the group’s activity was interrupted, particularly following the deaths of Hilmer Hassig in 2008 and Henrik Hall in 2011, which led to a reconfiguration centered on Jens Unmack. Love Shop resumed recording with «Frelsens hær» (2010) and «Skandinavisk lyst» (2012), continuing a world where guitars, pop melodies and a lyrical but direct writing style occupy a central place in contemporary Danish pop-rock.
