Damso
Damso, born William Kalubi Mwamba, is a Belgian rapper, songwriter, and composer from Kinshasa who has lived in Brussels since childhood. A leading figure in Francophone rap, he stands out for a dense, introspective, and poetic writing style where brutality, vulnerability, and lucidity intertwine. Brought to a wider audience through his stint with Booba’s 92i collective, he made a strong impression with his debut album Batterie Faible (2016), followed by Ipséité (2017), certified diamond, and Lithopédion (2018), which cemented his status as an extraordinary artist. Damso continually pushes the boundaries of rap, blending technical flows, avant‑garde production, and literary or spiritual references. With QALF (2020) and its expanded edition QALF Infinity, he probes even further the duality between light and darkness, reason and instinct. His unique pen, at times raw and at times metaphysical, makes him one of the most influential writers of his generation. Balancing mystery, candor, and high standards, Damso cultivates a rare relationship with creation, building a singular body of work that transcends rap’s codes to reach the universal.
