Nathan Evans

Originally from Airdrie, Scotland, Nathan Evans rose to prominence with his sea shanty covers on TikTok, becoming a global phenomenon within weeks. A former postman with a passion for music, he recorded in 2020 a version of the traditional Wellerman, a 19th-century New Zealand sea shanty, which went viral and propelled his name onto the charts in the UK and beyond. Signed to Polydor Records, he turned this unexpected success into a genuine springboard, following up with his own songs that blend modern folk, British pop, and Celtic influences. Tracks such as Told You So, Catch You When You Fall, and Ring Ding (A Scotsman’s Story) showcase his desire to bridge tradition and modernity, balancing acoustic instrumentation with contemporary production. Behind this unusual trajectory, Nathan Evans stands out as a sincere singer-songwriter, rooted in his Scottish heritage yet reaching for a universal sound, able to move from maritime melodies to pop hooks without ever losing his authenticity.
