The Wellermen
Formed online in 2021 by four singers living in different countries, The Wellermen first grew out of the sea shanty wave on TikTok before expanding their repertoire into a broader vocal folk. The quartet focuses primarily on harmonies, ensemble singing and storytelling, drawing on sea songs, Anglo‑Celtic traditionals and rearranged covers within a restrained acoustic aesthetic. This base gives The Wellermen a sound somewhere between British folk, popular ballad and contemporary choir, with performances that can remain close to the source or open up to more current songwriting. After an entirely digital emergence, The Wellermen transposed this format to the stage while maintaining a close connection to social networks, where the group continues to release collective versions and vocal arrangements. The project’s evolution also involves more personal work on songwriting and original pieces, without abandoning the narrative universe and choral textures that have defined its identity since the start.
