Cerrone

Born in 1952 in Vitry‑sur‑Seine, Marc Cerrone emerged in the 1970s as a drummer, composer and producer at the intersection of disco, funk and electronic pop. After beginnings in various rock bands and with the percussive ensemble Kongas, Cerrone turned to the studio and developed a format of extended tracks conceived for clubs, structured around prominent rhythmic sections, orchestral strings and synthetic keyboards. The album 'Love in C Minor' (1976) marked this turning point, followed by 'Cerrone's Paradise' (1977) and 'Supernature (Cerrone III)' (1977), whose aesthetic blends disco, rock influences and darker moods. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Cerrone alternated between record productions, music for film and large stage shows, while adapting his writing to the shifts in dance music and electronic pop. His recordings have been regularly reissued and sampled, which has repositioned Cerrone in dialogue with the house, nu‑disco and electro scenes, notably through remixes and collaborations with a new generation of producers. Active both on stage and in the studio, Cerrone continues a career combining reinterpretations of his catalogue, new projects and performances at international festivals and clubs.
