Aeroplane

Born in Sombreville, Belgium, Vito de Luca developed Aeroplane from 2007, initially as a duo with Stephen Fasano before the project became his solo vehicle around 2010. His path takes shape at the intersection of nu-disco, Balearic beat, melodic house, electronic pop and touches of rock, with a marked taste for warm arrangements, smooth basslines and tracks that are both danceable and sung. Before Aeroplane, de Luca and Fasano had already worked together under the name Javelo, active in the mid-2000s. The early Aeroplane EPs appeared on Eskimo Recordings, then the project gained visibility thanks to a series of remixes for Friendly Fires, Sébastien Tellier, Au Revoir Simone, Justin Timberlake, Charli XCX or Stromae, in a very identifiable disco-pop vein. In 2010, Aeroplane released the album We Can’t Fly, co-written with several guests including Jonathan Jeremiah, Au Revoir Simone and Merry Clayton, which further broadened the project's spectrum between song, house and cinematic atmospheres. Subsequently, Vito de Luca pursued Aeroplane between singles, collaborations and DJ sets, with releases such as In Her Eyes in 2012, Let’s Get Slow in 2015, Sambal in 2016 with Purple Disco Machine, then Counting On Me and Love on Hold in 2017. Aeroplane has also frequented stages and festivals in Europe and North America, in a club-register that faithfully extends the project’s flexible and sunny aesthetic.
