Gaahls WYRD

Formed in Bergen, Norway in 2015 around vocalist Gaahl, after the end of God Seed, Gaahls Wyrd sits in the continuity of the Norwegian black metal scene while developing a more atmospheric and introspective writing. The band, now centered around Gaahl, Lust Kilman, Spektre and Nekroman, initially built its identity on stage by performing part of the repertoire linked to the founder's former projects, before asserting its own language. A first live testimony appeared with Bergen '15 in 2017, then Gaahls Wyrd released its first studio album, GastiR – Ghosts Invited, in 2019, where black metal blends with ritual elements, changing tempos and a focus on atmospheres. In 2021, the EP The Humming Mountain continues this approach with a tighter format and a clearer progressive dimension. The band's trajectory passes through European tours and metal festivals, in a register alternating tension, contemplative passages and often theatrical vocal lines without leaving Gaahls Wyrd's dark aesthetic. Its discography also includes Braiding the Stories, published in 2025.
