Uada

Formed in 2014 in Portland, Oregon (USA), Uada develops a melodic black metal sound where fast riffs, atmospheric motifs, and influences from heavy and death metal converge. Led by vocalist and guitarist Jake Superchi, already active within the American extreme scene, the band first drew attention on the North American underground circuit before gradually expanding into Europe through tours and club dates. The debut album, Devoid of Light (2016), lays the groundwork for a guitar‑centric sound and elongated song structures, followed by Cult of a Dying Sun (2018), which further explores mid‑tempos and long‑form atmospheres. With Djinn (2020), Uada extends the length of its compositions once more and heightens the contrasts between rapid passages and more open sections, while Crepuscule Natura (2023), again released by the German label Eisenwald, continues this approach by bringing more clearly foregrounded melodic lines to the fore. On stage, Uada most often appear as a masked quartet, with a dark, pared‑back aesthetic that complements the repetitive, hypnotic, and at times contemplative character of their music.
