Mork
Born in Halden in southeast Norway, Mork took shape in 2004 around Thomas Eriksen, initially as a side project before becoming his main creative outlet with the release of Isebakke in 2013. Mork sits within the tradition of Norwegian black metal, with writing built on cold guitars, often tight rhythms, a dark and melancholic atmosphere, and frequent use of slower passages that add depth to the tracks. Over the years Thomas Eriksen has developed Mork as an entity that is both personal and open to outside contributions, featuring guests from bands such as Darkthrone, Dimmu Borgir and Kampfar. The project's discography grew quickly with Den vandrende skygge (2015), Eremittens dal (2017), Det svarte juv (2019), Katedralen (2021) and Dypet (2024), showing continuity in approach while broadening textures and nuances. Present on the contemporary Scandinavian black metal scene, Mork preserves an aesthetic directly linked to its Norwegian roots — between roughness, clarity of composition and atmospheric work.
