Hovvdy is the collaboration formed in Austin (Texas) by Charlie Martin and Will Taylor, two multi-instrumentalists who first learned to respond to each other in jam sessions, before building a two-voice duo with economy of means. Since their debut in 2014, they have progressed in small, incremental steps, with intimate songwriting and songs that take their time. Taster (2016) and then Cranberry (2018) lay the foundations: a lo-fi aesthetic, melancholic melodies, and that taste for discreet details that allow an emotion to endure without overemphasizing it. Often categorized as slowcore, Hovvdy nonetheless remains at the crossroads: indie rock at heart, but with folk and pop inflections that brighten the whole. Over the course of their records, the duo has broadened its palette without losing its simplicity, up to preparing a new chapter with an album announced for August 14. They return to Paris on August 27, 2026, at the Pop-up du Label, for a date that should highlight their sense of hushed harmonies and refrains in chiaroscuro.
