Info
Soulfly and Nailbomb land at O2 Institute Birmingham on 5 September 2026, a double bill steered by Max Cavalera that reconnects two distinct chapters of his metal story.
Soulfly, formed in Phoenix in 1997 after Cavalera’s exit from Sepultura, brings a hybrid language of groove metal, thrash and death with a steady thread of tribal percussion. Across albums from the self-titled debut to Totem, the band has settled into a sound built on dense riffs, heavy pulses and sudden shifts into more spacious, atmospheric passages. On stage, that mix stays physical and direct, driven by percussive patterns and churning guitars that keep the focus on rhythm and momentum while leaving room for breathers that widen the scope.
Nailbomb started in 1993 as Cavalera’s duo with Alex Newport of Fudge Tunnel, carving an industrial-thrash alloy with crust and sludge edges. The project cut one studio record, Point Blank, and a live document the following year, then went quiet until its relaunch in 2024 with Igor Amadeus Cavalera. In concert, Nailbomb leans into rigid, mechanical beats, serrated riffs and an abrasive vocal delivery, channeling the raw, confrontational energy that marked its brief original run.
