Nailbomb

Formed in the United States in 1993, Nailbomb took the form of a duo centered on Max Cavalera, then singer and guitarist of Sepultura, and Alex Newport of the British band Fudge Tunnel. Nailbomb developed a tense hybrid of industrial metal and thrash metal, with elements of crust punk and sludge, in a direct, abrasive format strongly marked by heavy rhythms and mechanical textures. The project arose from exchanges between the metal and hardcore scenes in the early 1990s and occasionally involved musicians such as Igor Cavalera, D.H. Peligro and Dino Cazares. Nailbomb released a single studio album, Point Blank, in 1994, followed by a live album, Proud to Commit Commercial Suicide, in 1995, documenting their performance at the Dynamo Open Air in Eindhoven — long their only official concert. After disbanding that same year, Nailbomb remained inactive for nearly three decades before being revived in 2024 by Max Cavalera, this time with Igor Amadeus Cavalera in the lineup. Nailbomb’s trajectory is thus brief but clearly defined, at the crossroads of extreme metal, industrial and corrosive punk.
