Info
Formed in Virginia in 1997 by vocalist J. R. Hayes and guitarist Scott Hull, Pig Destroyer condenses grindcore to its essentials: speed, sharp turns, and lyrics that read like fractured short fiction. Over the years the band has folded thrash bite, hardcore urgency and slower, heavier passages into a compact style that hits fast and then twists. Their catalogue traces that arc, from Explosions in Ward 6 and the cult cornerstone Prowler in the Yard to Terrifyer and Phantom Limb, then Book Burner, Head Cage and more recent releases. On stage, the songs stack up in short, volatile bursts, pivoting from blastbeats to lurching riffs without padding, with samples and noise textures adding an extra layer of unease.
At Scala, London on 13 November 2026, Pig Destroyer brings that approach into tight focus. Hayes delivers clipped, image-heavy lines while Hull’s riffs snap from sprint to dead stop; Adam Jarvis locks everything in with precise, punishing drums, and the low end now gives the set an added weight the band once did without. The result is a set that pulls freely across eras, stitching early breakneck cuts to later, heavier grooves, all built on tension, release and a sense of motion that doesn’t let up.
