Info
On 25 July 2026, OMD take over Dreamland Margate for a night built on four decades of synth-pop writing. Born at the end of the ’70s around Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, the band forged a sound where direct melodies meet darker electronics, from their early albums (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Organisation, Architecture & Morality) to the more fragmented collages of Dazzle Ships and the pop contours of Crush and The Pacific Age. After a long pause, OMD returned to touring and records, with History of Modern, English Electric, The Punishment of Luxury and Bauhaus Staircase refreshing their palette. On stage, the group plays in an expanded formation, balancing atmospheric pieces and driving synth lines across their catalogue.
Peter Hook and The Light join the bill. Formed in Manchester in 2010 by the former New Order bassist, the band revisits the Joy Division and New Order songbooks in concert, often album-focused, with that melodic, percussive bass upfront, guitars cutting through and the synth textures that shaped the shift from post-punk to new wave.
Opening is Andrew Cushin, a Newcastle singer-songwriter whose rough-edged voice carries autobiographical songs about family, ties and everyday cracks. Between intimate acoustic moments and a broader, melodic rock feel with britpop shades, his 2023 debut album Waiting for the Rain set the tone for a live approach rooted in straight-ahead songwriting.
