Andrew Cushin
From Newcastle upon Tyne, Andrew Cushin emerged at the turn of the 2020s with a singer‑songwriter approach shaped by British indie rock, folk rock and a pop sensibility inherited from the guitar songs of North East England. His raspy, direct voice carries autobiographical lyrics, often focused on family, relationships and the fragilities of everyday life, in songs that range from acoustic formats to a broader sound between melodic rock and britpop inflections. Cushin first drew attention with a series of singles and EPs, then gradually broadened his scope on stage across clubs, venues and festivals in the UK. In his early career he received public support from Noel Gallagher, Pete Doherty, Sam Fender and Louis Tomlinson while developing a personal repertoire. His debut album, Waiting for the Rain, was released in 2023 and reflects this move toward denser production without abandoning his songwriter roots. Remaining closely tied to Newcastle, Andrew Cushin situates his trajectory within an English scene where songcraft and band energy advance together.
