The Californian band The Neighbourhood brings their blend of alternative rock, dreamlike pop atmosphere and contemporary R&B to Cologne: on May 10, 2026 the quintet will perform at the Lanxess Arena. Formed in the early 2010s around vocalist Jesse Rutherford, alongside Zach Abels, Jeremy Freedman, Mikey Margott and Brandon Fried, the group has carved out a clear black-and-white aesthetic and a sound that balances melancholy with an underlying groove. Sweater Weather was the breakthrough; songs like Daddy Issues, Afraid and Softcore are now firmly established.
On stage, warm, reverberant guitars meet electronic textures and angular beats, while Rutherford’s voice shifts between whisper and falsetto. From I Love You. through Wiped Out! to Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones, the set traces the band’s different phases without losing its thread. The more experimental project ultraSOUND sketches the current direction: denser, shimmering, with focused hooks and an intimate mood. A concert that probes contrasts and puts the meticulous craft of the songwriting front and center.
