Chily

Born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chily develops French‑language rap threaded with Afro influences, melodic hooks and a mixed use of French, Lingala and Bambara. He emerged with the series of street clips Complètement Rebanav, which established an offbeat tone, a highly mobile sense of rhythm and a writing style that lets formal lightness coexist with rougher narratives. His visibility widened with the track San Pellegrino, and with titles like Tiens ton pantalon, which extend an aesthetic based on festive productions, supple cadences and a very visual presence. Positioned within the French rap scene, Chily weaves references to African music alongside the codes of street rap, without confining himself to a single register. From track to track he favors energy, language shifts and contrasts between humor, nonchalance and social tension.
