Luke Dean

Emerging from the British underground scene, Luke Dean crafts a house sound firmly rooted in the legacy of 1990s Chicago house and garage house, featuring bouncy basslines, catchy vocal hooks and a club-focused sense of groove. As a DJ and producer, he draws on an electronic culture informed by influences such as MJ Cole, Todd Edwards and Grant Nelson, carrying some of their rhythmic and melodic codes into a more contemporary context. His career developed first in the studio and then behind the decks through a string of releases that established him within the UK house circuit, before he expanded his live presence with dates across the United Kingdom, Ibiza, Amsterdam and Italy. Without aiming for retro affectation, Luke Dean cultivates an aesthetic that links garage’s suppleness, the effectiveness of vocal house and modern, dancefloor-oriented production. In both his sets and productions he occupies a space where the English club tradition converses with classic forms of American house.
