Wolfheart

Founded by Tuomas Saukkonen in Lahti, Finland, Wolfheart continues the musician’s trajectory following the end of his projects Before the Dawn and Black Sun Aeon. Initially launched as a solo project in 2013, Wolfheart quickly evolved into an extreme metal band centered on melodic death metal with doom and black undertones, characterized by wintry atmospheres and imagery tied to Finnish landscapes. The debut album, Winterborn (2013), laid the groundwork for a style in which melodic guitars, raspy vocals and slower passages coexist; Shadow World (2015) and Tyhjyys (2017) further emphasized the balance between rhythmic aggression and melancholy. With Constellation of the Black Light (2018), Wolfheart consolidated a denser songwriting approach and longer structures, a direction continued by Wolves of Karelia (2020) and King of the North (2022), which draw on themes of war, nature and Norse mythology. Active on the international scene, Wolfheart tours extensively across Europe and North America and has firmly established itself within the contemporary melodic death metal circuit.
