Shaboozey

Between country, rap and folk, Shaboozey develops a blend where acoustic guitars, trap rhythms and sung choruses intersect within a very narrative songwriting style. Born in Woodbridge, Virginia, to parents of Nigerian origin, Shaboozey first gained attention in the mid-2010s through singles released online, before shaping his universe around figures of modern cowboys, the road and American nightlife. The debut album, “Lady Wrangler” (2018), establishes this hybrid aesthetic between melodic hip-hop and Americana influences, continued on “Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die” (2022), where Shaboozey emphasizes the link between western imagery, rap beats and songwriting close to alternative country. In 2024, “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going” deepens the tension between country ballads, darker rap tracks and songs designed for the stage. Also active as director of his visuals, Shaboozey moves between American rap scenes and independent country circuits while multiplying collaborations, notably on projects mixing R&B, pop and new country.
