Formed in Chicago in the mid-2010s, DRAMA brings together singer-songwriter Via Rosa and producer Na’el Shehade in a duo that blends alternative R&B, electronic pop, and the city’s house legacy. DRAMA crafts a world centered on Via Rosa’s soulful, melodic voice, supported by club-leaning structures, often danceable tempos, pared-back electronic textures, and basslines rooted in house tradition. Their discography took shape with the EP Gallows in 2016, followed by Lies After Love in 2018, where the duo honed a balance between R&B ballads and dancefloor-ready cuts. The debut full-length, Dance Without Me, arrived in 2020 and distills this approach by alternating introspective songs with more direct tracks, always focused on relationship dynamics, solitude, partying and the aftermath. In parallel, DRAMA has multiplied collaborations across the international electronic scene, notably with Gorgon City, anchoring the project as much in contemporary R&B circles as in today’s house and dance networks. On stage, DRAMA translates this blend into a live format with vocals front and center while the electronic arrangements highlight the contrasts between melancholy and club energy, steadily establishing the duo across North American and European touring circuits.
