Søren Sko

Born in Aalborg, Denmark in 1963 under the name Søren Svenninggaard Sørensen, Søren Sko first established himself at the turn of the 1990s with Sko/Torp, a duo formed in Aarhus with Palle Torp, in a pop and pop-rock register sung in English, centered on melodies, guitars and a writing close to contemporary adult song. After several albums with Sko/Torp, including On a Long Lonely Night (1990), Familiar Roads (1992), Hey You! (1994) and A Perfect Day (1996), Søren Sko began a solo career from Sko in 1998, followed by Shine (2000), Unpolished (2001), Faith Hope Love (2002) and One for My Baby (2004). His discography under his own name alternates between original compositions, melodic pop, light soul and reworkings of standards, with a measured voice at the center of his projects. In parallel, Søren Sko also works in other contexts, notably as a vocal producer, then relaunches Sko/Torp in the mid-2000s, leading to the albums Heartland (2010), After Hours (2016) and Heaven Is on Our Side (2018). He also forms the duo Shoes for Julia with Julia Fabrin in 2012, before publishing On Cole in 2018 with Benjamin Koppel, a project dedicated to Nat King Cole’s repertoire.
