Michael Falch

Born in Køge, Denmark, in 1956, Michael Falch first established himself in the late 1970s with Malurt, a Danish rock group of which he was the singer and one of the main songwriters, active on the national scene before a split in the mid-1980s and later several reformations. Solo from 1985, Michael Falch developed a writing style positioned between rock, pop and folk, centered on songs in a direct format, carried by a rough voice and a strong sense of storytelling. His discography alternates between electric periods and more stripped-down formats, with albums such as Michael Falch (1985), De vildeste fugle (1988), Nye rejsende (1998), Falder du nu (2006), Sommeren kom ny tilbage (2013), Pludselig alting samtidig (2016), Forår i brystet (2020), Elsker (2021) and Drømmene (2024). Over the years, Michael Falch has also worked with Boat Man Love as a regular accompanying band and shared various projects with Poul Krebs, notably on the Tomandshånd album (2015) under the name KrebsFalch. This musical trajectory ran parallel to activities as a writer and actor, but it is in Danish song, between singer-songwriter rock and melodic folk-pop, that Michael Falch built most of his career.
