Atlas

Formed in Nokia, in southwest Finland, Atlas has been developing since the mid-2010s a modern metal they dub "northcore," rooted in metalcore yet shot through with deathcore elements, post-metal atmospheres, and a pronounced Nordic melancholy. The band first made a name for itself on the Finnish scene with EPs and a steady live schedule, before gradually branching out to European tours and specialist festivals. The release of the album "Primitive" in 2018 established a sonic foundation of very low-tuned guitars, heavy rhythms, and vocals blending harsh screams and clean singing, set against ambient layers and subtle electronic touches. With "UKKO" in 2021, Atlas deepened its Finnish grounding by incorporating more lyrics in Finnish and motifs inspired by Northern imagery and landscapes, while remaining within a contemporary metalcore framework. Active across European metal stages, Atlas continues to balance rhythmic aggression, dark melodies, and cinematic atmospheres.
