L.A. Witch

Based in Los Angeles, L.A. Witch has been developing since the early 2010s a dark, reverb-drenched rock that blends garage, psychedelic rock and echoes of surf and slow punk. The trio—singer/guitarist Sade Sanchez, bassist Irita Pai and drummer Ellie English—rooted itself in the California indie scene, playing local clubs before embarking on tours across North America and Europe. Early demos and singles gradually established L.A. Witch’s identity, built on minimalist riffs, a nonchalant vocal delivery and urban nocturnal atmospheres. Their self-titled debut was released in 2017, followed by Play With Fire in 2020, which pushed further the contrasts between faster-tempo songs and slower, heavier tracks. In 2021 the EP Octubre offered a reworking of their rock and Latin American references. Across records and tours, L.A. Witch has refined a direct, often repetitive sound where rhythmic tension and heavy use of reverb shape the whole.
