GHOSTWOMAN
Behind GHOSTWOMAN is primarily Canadian Evan Uschenko, a musician and songwriter who evolved the project into a duo with Belgian musician Ille van Dessel. GHOSTWOMAN sits within psychedelic rock with garage edges, featuring deliberately spare songwriting, rough guitars, repetitive motifs and a way of blending electric folk, understated krautrock and post-punk tension. The project took shape around the turn of the 2020s on the independent scene, in a raw, slightly lo-fi aesthetic that remains central to its identity. This trajectory crystallized with the album Ghost Woman in 2022, followed by Anne, If in 2023 and Hindsight Is 50/50 in 2024 — three records that reveal a steady taste for short formats, uneasy atmospheres and songs built on repetition rather than flourish. On stage, GHOSTWOMAN keeps this direct approach, between basement/underground rock, minimal psychedelia and a dry tension, in a setup that can remain compact around the duo while retaining the energy of European and North American independent rock circuits.
