Penelope Isles

Around siblings Jack and Lily Wolter, Penelope Isles has grown between the Isle of Man, where its founding members come from, and Brighton, where the project has been based for several years. Penelope Isles’ music blends indie rock, dream pop, shoegaze and psych-pop in a format where saturated guitars, hazy textures and clearer melodies move together, constantly balancing tension and softness. Jack and Lily Wolter’s vocals are a key part of that identity, alternating between diffuse harmonies and more frontal lead lines. After several early singles and shorter formats, Penelope Isles released the album Until the Tide Creeps In in 2019, then Which Way to Happy in 2022, confirming a broader songwriting approach without abandoning the interplay of noise, restrained emotion and oblique choruses. On stage, Penelope Isles developed a sustained presence, playing more than 150 concerts internationally around the first album, including several US tours, and sharing bills with acts like The Flaming Lips, Wallows and The Magic Numbers.
