pyncher

Formed in Manchester in 2020, pyncher comprises Sam Blakeley on vocals and guitar, Harvey O'Toole on guitar, Britt Dewhurst on bass and Jack Rainbow on drums. The band took shape after Blakeley and O'Toole met at university and wrote their first songs during the UK lockdowns, before debuting live in Manchester—notably at the Fuel Cafe Bar in Withington—and quickly becoming part of the local circuit with shows at the White Hotel. pyncher's sound sits between alternative rock, post‑punk and garage rock, occasionally hinting at psychedelic and krautrock influences, often delivered in a tense, angular and melodic format. Early releases include the single "Dirty Feet" (2021), followed by "Frogs and Tomatoes", "The Saddest Man Around" and "Steely Dan" in 2022. After several years of gigs and development on Manchester's independent scene, pyncher released their first full‑length, "Every Town Needs A Stranger", in 2025, which extends this hybrid aesthetic.
