Gabi Hartmann

Driven by a pronounced taste for songs that cross borders, Gabi Hartmann has developed a writing style at the crossroads of jazz, French chanson, and Brazilian music. A French singer and guitarist based in Paris, she shapes a repertoire where French, English, Portuguese, and occasionally Arabic interweave, with particular attention to intimate stories and cinematic atmospheres. After music studies and an extended period between Rio de Janeiro and London, her work has taken shape around an acoustic aesthetic, close to chamber jazz, nourished as much by bossa nova as by folk and various popular traditions. A sustained collaboration with New York songwriter and producer Jesse Harris marked an important step in her journey and helped structure her first recorded compositions. Released in 2023, the album “Gabi Hartmann” gathers this diversity of influences into a collection of songs with understated arrangements, keeping Hartmann’s voice to the fore and steadily establishing her within the new jazz and chanson scene in France.
