Keren Ann
Born in Caesarea, Israel in 1974 and raised between the Netherlands and France, Keren Ann has developed a career that crosses several cultures, with a long‑term base between Paris and New York. The Franco‑Israeli singer‑songwriter emerged around the turn of the 2000s with a style that blends francophone chanson, intimate pop and folk with spare arrangements. Her first solo album, “La Biographie de Luka Philipsen” (2000), followed by “La Disparition” (2002), established a hushed universe where acoustic guitars, subtle strings and a whispered voice shape songwriting in French and English. With “Not Going Anywhere” (2003), “Nolita” (2004), “Keren Ann” (2007), “101” (2011), “You’re Gonna Get Love” (2016) and “Bleue” (2019), she alternates melancholic ballads and brighter pop while maintaining a restrained, melodic aesthetic. Alongside her records, early in her career she co‑wrote for Henri Salvador on the album “Chambre avec vue” (2000), collaborated with Benjamin Biolay, took part in the Lady & Bird project with Icelandic musician Barði Jóhannsson and composes for film, television and the stage. Her concerts translate this intimate songwriting to the stage, with lineups ranging from solo performances to fuller band configurations.
