Baptiste Trotignon

Born in Nantes in 1974, Baptiste Trotignon began with classical piano before turning to jazz, a path that remains audible in both his playing and his compositions. Settled in Paris at the end of the 1990s, he quickly became part of the French jazz scene with a language that blends swing, modern improvisation, a strong melodic sensibility and attention to form. His work unfolds in solo, trio, duo and larger formats, regularly moving between standards, original compositions and reinterpretations from other repertoires. He has notably collaborated with Stefano di Battista and Tom Harrell, while developing projects that take him toward both acoustic jazz and writing close to chamber music. His style combines a clear pulse, highly articulated phrasing and a harmonic approach nourished by contemporary jazz as well as by European tradition. Over the course of his career he has also composed for film and the stage, broadening a trajectory that goes beyond the jazz concert while remaining centered on the piano.
