Bolis Pupul

Born in Ghent, Belgium in 1985, Bolis Pupul, real name Boris Kor Tom Zeebroek, develops electronic music situated between synthpop, experimental pop and offbeat dance textures. His career first took shape in the group Hong Kong Dong, formed with his sister and his brother-in-law, before continuing as a solo artist and in several collaborations within the Belgian scene tied to the Deewee label, founded by Soulwax. Bolis Pupul hones here a writing that blends direct melodic lines, club rhythms, discreet humor and work on identity, with a taste for slightly oblique pop forms. His meeting with Charlotte Adigéry in Ghent opens a durable artistic partnership, realized by the EP Zandoli in 2022 and then by the album Topical Dancer in 2022, where the two musicians cross electronic, spoken word, synthetic refrains and social observations. In solo, Bolis Pupul continues this approach with Letter to Yu, released in 2024, an album conceived with the Dewaele brothers and nourished by his family history, notably his Chinese origins through his mother born in Hong Kong. On stage, Bolis Pupul alternates collaborative formats and live performances under his own name, in a register where rhythmic precision meets a deliberately odd but legible electronic pop.
