Cosmo Vitelli
Born in Montreuil in 1973, Benjamin Boguet grew up between the Ivory Coast and Clermont-Ferrand before settling in Paris in the early 1990s, where he moved from indie rock to electronic music under the name Cosmo Vitelli. Initially a musician in the band Perio, Cosmo Vitelli began developing a personal style from 1997 on the Solid label, releasing maxi singles and then the mini‑album Video, which features a collaboration with Jalal of the Last Poets. His world mixes electro, a post‑punk legacy, dark synth‑pop and minimal textures, with a marked taste for basslines, dry rhythms and off‑kilter atmospheres. Active in Paris club circuits such as the Rex Club and Pulp, Cosmo Vitelli sits at the fringes of the French touch scene while keeping a more oblique and abrasive approach. In 2003 he released the album Clean, and in 2004 he founded the label I’m A Cliché, which supports both his own productions and those of other electronic and indie‑dance artists. He also launched Bot’Ox with Julien Briffaz, a project oriented toward more cinematic electronics. After a spell in Berlin he returned as a solo artist with Holiday in Panik Strasse in 2019, followed by Medhead in 2022, made with Truus de Groot, confirming his enduring taste for taut, melodic and slightly dissonant electronic forms.
