PPJ
Now led by Brazilian singer Páula and producer Povoa, following the departure of founding member Jerge, PPJ has developed a Franco-Brazilian approach that links Brazilian musical traditions with a European club culture. PPJ’s music blends baile funk, samba and touches of bossa nova with more electronic forms — techno, electroclash, hyperpop — and rhythms inspired by British scenes. This crossover results in tracks where Brazilian percussion and colours meet harder kicks, dry bass and vocals that alternate between softness, spoken word and sharper phrasing. PPJ’s evolution has occurred in a back-and-forth between different geographies and uses of the dancefloor, with a repertoire conceived for both clubs and festival stages. The group’s path also includes a collaboration with Fatboy Slim on the track «Bus Stop», which extends this hybrid aesthetic. PPJ thus operates within a mobile register: at once pop, electronic and distinctly marked by Brazilian references.
