Kelsey Lu

Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and having spent time in Brooklyn before settling in Los Angeles, Kelsey Lu develops music at the crossroads of avant-pop, baroque pop, soul and more experimental writings, with cello and voice at the center of her work. Trained very early in piano, violin and cello in a musical family environment, Kelsey Lu began to attract attention in the mid-2010s with the EP Church, released in 2016 and recorded in a Greenpoint church, where already slow, airy songs appear, built around strings, vocal loops and minimalist arrangements. This first phase is accompanied by live performances opening for the group Wet, then touring scenes where alternative pop, performance and experimentation meet. In 2019, Kelsey Lu releases the album Blood, which expands her range toward a denser chamber pop, blending orchestral textures, discreet R&B and atmospheric electronics, before extending this repertoire with Blood Transfusion in the same year, in the form of remixes. Throughout her career, Kelsey Lu also collaborates with artists from neighboring universes such as Yves Tumor, Boys Noize, Mykki Blanco, Onyx Collective or Neneh Cherry. Her discography also includes the soundtracks to Daughters and Earth Mama, both released in 2024, as well as the album So Help Me God, released in 2026.
