Kiss Facility

Kiss Facility takes shape around Mayah Alkhateri, a born and raised artist in the United Arab Emirates, of partly Egyptian origin, and Salvador Navarrete, a producer and musician also known by the name Sega Bodega. The project sits at the crossroads of shoegaze, indie rock and an alternative pop with hazy textures, with diffuse guitars, melancholic atmospheres, and writing that leaves a clear space for the question of identity. Kiss Facility also incorporates references to Mayah Alkhateri’s Arab cultural heritage, not as décor but as a central element of her artistic language. Through this duo, Kiss Facility explores themes related to freedom, creation and representation, in a concise form where refrains and soundscapes coexist with a more introspective sensibility. The project emerged in the early 2020s and sits in a space where alternative scenes, experimental pop and internet-derived aesthetics meet, while maintaining accessible writing. Around Kiss Facility, Mayah Alkhateri also describes a supportive and expressive framework designed for women facing constrained social contexts in the Middle East.
