DJ Gigola

Based in Berlin, DJ Gigola is part of the European electronic scene at the crossroads of techno, trance and pop, with a club aesthetic that plays on ambiguities of gender and identity. Active within the collective and label Live From Earth Klub, she develops a body of work as a DJ and producer where dance-music codes are regularly brought close to pop-oriented structures and hooks, in a logic of rewriting and displacement. Her sets navigate between rave influences, 1990s trance sounds, harder textures and melodic moments, linking tracks from sometimes distant repertoires through a constant attention to rhythm and pulse. This approach, focused on the percussive dimension rather than harmony, is also evident in her releases on Live From Earth Klub and in collaborations with other members of the collective. Present in clubs and international festivals, she represents a generation of DJs who treat cultural references and stereotypes as material to be recombined on the dancefloor.
