Egotrippi
Active since 1993 in Finland, Egotrippi is part of Finnish-language pop rock, where clear melodies meet a restrained group interplay of guitars, keyboards and light rock rhythms. Formed around Mikki Kauste and Knipi and later stabilised as a quintet, Egotrippi debuted in the mid-1990s with the album Egotrippi (1995) and broadened its audience with Superego (1997) and Alter Ego (1998). Over successive records the band honed a more direct, melancholic songwriting style, attentive to choruses, pared-down arrangements and a mature brand of pop firmly rooted in the Finnish scene. Helsinki–Hollola (2000) and Matkustaja (2003) were important milestones in this evolution, followed by Vielä koittaa uusi aika (2006) and Maailmanloppua odotellessa (2008). After a more spaced-out period, Egotrippi resumed activity with Pilvien alla, maan päällä (2013), Vuosi nolla (2015), 10 (2017) and Aina matkalla jonnekin (2020). In parallel, several members have written, produced or performed for other Finnish artists, extending Egotrippi’s presence in the local pop scene over time.
