Vacations

Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Vacations are part of an Australian indie scene where bedroom pop, jangle pop, dream pop and melodic post-punk intersect. The project formed in the mid-2010s around Campbell Burns before developing into a band, with songwriting that favors clean guitars, supple bass lines, often restrained tempos and a detached vocal. Vacations first drew attention with the EP Vibes in 2016, then refined that approach between melancholic pop and indie rock on the album Changes in 2018. The group continued in this direction with Forever In Bloom in 2020, where the approach became broader without abandoning its light, introspective aesthetic, and later with No Place Like Home in 2023. Across releases, Vacations moved from DIY production to a more structured sound while retaining direct songwriting and a nostalgic hue. Since then Vacations has circulated between alternative scenes, international tours and audiences from both indie rock and independent pop, with a repertoire combining short songs, hazy atmospheres and a discreet tension.
