Tokio Hotel
Formed in the early 2000s in Magdeburg, Germany, Tokio Hotel brings together twins Bill Kaulitz (vocals) and Tom Kaulitz (guitar) with Georg Listing (bass) and Gustav Schäfer (drums). The band, initially active under the name Devilish, sits within pop rock and alternative rock and was early on defined by a dark, emotionally charged teenage aesthetic. Tokio Hotel became known in the German-speaking world with the album Schrei (2005) and followed with Zimmer 483 (2007), later releasing English versions and expanding their international presence. The record Humanoid (2009) emphasized a more electronic and synthetic dimension to their songwriting, a transition the band deepened on Kings of Suburbia (2014) and Dream Machine (2017), where electronic-pop and electro-pop textures prevail. Spending part of their time in Los Angeles, the band alternates studio work and touring while maintaining a strong connection with a multi-generational audience. With 2001 (2022), Tokio Hotel revisits their history within a modern pop framework, balancing their early rock heritage with more contemporary production.
