The Fall of Troy

Formed in 2002 in Mukilteo, Washington, The Fall of Troy emerged as the successor to 30 Years War and quickly established itself at the intersection of post-hardcore, math rock and screamo. Their writing rests on tempo changes, structural ruptures and highly mobile guitar work. The band’s original core—Thomas Erak, Tim Ward and Andrew Forsman—performed as a trio, a lineup that has left a lasting imprint on their sound. After their self-titled debut in 2003, they broadened their audience with Doppelgänger (2005) and moved toward a more produced aesthetic on Manipulator (2007) and In the Unlikely Event (2009). Their trajectory sits within the American hardcore, punk and alternative scenes of the 2000s, balancing melodic tension, dissonance and bursts of acceleration reminiscent of mathcore without being confined to it. Put on hiatus in the late 2000s, the band later resumed activity and released OK in 2016 and Mukiltearth in 2020, the latter even referencing their hometown in its title. Over the years The Fall of Troy has retained an identity built on tense, technical and often abrupt compositions while remaining firmly a live-oriented group.
