Chiodos

Formed in 2001 in Davison, Michigan, Chiodos emerged within the mid-2000s American post-hardcore wave, writing music that blends screamo tension, emo melodies, shifting structures and piano passages that underline the band's taste for contrast. Initially active as The Chiodos Bros., they gained attention with All’s Well That Ends Well (2005) and Bone Palace Ballet (2007), two albums marked by angular riffs, highly tense vocals and frequent dynamic shifts. Chiodos’ trajectory has since been shaped by several lineup changes, notably the departure of singer Craig Owens in 2009 and the recording of Illuminaudio in 2010 with Brandon Bolmer, before Owens returned and Devil was released in 2014. Present on the American alternative rock and post‑hardcore circuits, Chiodos develop a more sinuous sound than classic melodic hardcore, pairing aggression, clear (clean) choruses, jarring rhythms and a dramatic dimension without becoming pure metal.
