Syd Matters

Syd Matters, a project led by singer-songwriter Jonathan Morali, established itself in 2003 with End & Start Again, carried by a warm, deeply felt voice and by distinctive melodies that seemed to come from another time. With four albums and a string of tracks that became emblematic — such as Black & White Eyes, Obstacles, To All Of You and I Might Float — he left his mark on a whole generation with intimate folk, misty arrangements and a rare sense of emotion. On stage, audiences remember intense concerts where Morali and his musicians blended epic scope with acoustic fragility. After that recording cycle Jonathan Morali became more discreet but continued a prolific creative trajectory, composing for theatre, film, animation and video games, notably the soundtrack to Life Is Strange, which became a worldwide success and opened his universe to a new audience.
