REZZ
Under the name REZZ, Isabelle Rezazadeh has been developing since the mid-2010s a dark, hypnotic electronic sound at the crossroads of EDM, slow techno, new beat and bass music with thick textures. Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario, REZZ began producing in the early 2010s and emerged in 2015 with the EP Insurrection, released via Nest HQ, an outfit affiliated with OWSLA. Quickly noticed on the North American electronic scene, she then joined the mau5trap label, which issued the EPs The Silence Is Deafening and Something Wrong Here in 2016. Her debut album, Mass Manipulation, was released in 2017, followed by Certain Kind of Magic in 2018, the EP Beyond the Senses in 2019 and the album Spiral in 2021. REZZ’s sound relies on measured rhythms, heavy basslines, minimal melodies and an intentionally murky atmosphere, somewhere between club tension and industrial imagery. Over the course of her career she has collaborated with deadmau5, 1788-L, Underoath and Malaa, and produced remixes for artists such as Porter Robinson, Grimes and The Glitch Mob. In 2022 she also launched the label HypnoVizion.
