GRiZ

Born in Southfield, Michigan, Grant Kwiecinski performs as GRiZ and has developed an approach to electronic music that blends funk, soul, hip‑hop and bass music, with the saxophone as a central element of his sonic identity. Emerging on the US scene in the early 2010s, GRiZ initially released his productions for free online before expanding into extensive club and festival touring, notably within the American EDM and jam circuits. His first full‑length album, Mad Liberation (2012), established a foundation of electro‑soul, glitch‑hop and melodic dubstep, followed by Rebel Era (2013) and Say It Loud (2015), where brass, choirs and funk influences gained greater prominence. With Good Will Prevail (2016) and Ride Waves (2019) he moved his songwriting toward formats closer to pop and hip‑hop, featuring a range of guest vocalists, while Rainbow Brain (2021) returned to a more psychedelic, live‑oriented aesthetic. On stage GRiZ combines DJ sets, saxophone improvisation and band‑style passages, sometimes collaborating with acts like Big Gigantic or the GRiZMATIK project with Gramatik. Firmly established in the North American electronic landscape, his discography encompasses studio albums, the Chasing The Golden Hour mixtape series and occasional collaborations with artists from both dubstep and modern funk.
