Black Tiger Sex Machine
The Montreal trio Black Tiger Sex Machine, formed in the early 2010s, is part of the North American electronic and bass music scene, blending electro, dubstep, midtempo and industrial touches. Made up of Marc-André Chagnon, Julien Maranda and Patrick Barry, they developed early on an aesthetic focused on narrative live performances, where illuminated tiger‑head helmets and visual work emphasize the cinematic quality of their tracks. The group structures its activity around the collective and label Kannibalen Records, which becomes the main outlet for their releases and collaborations with other producers and vocalists. After a series of singles and EPs, Black Tiger Sex Machine released the album "Welcome to Our Church" in 2016 and "New Worlds" in 2018, marking a move toward more melodic and conceptual compositions, before further expanding that narrative universe with "Once Upon a Time in Cyberworld" in 2022. Present on many festival stages in North America and Europe, Black Tiger Sex Machine focuses on hybrid sets that mix improvisation, real‑time editing and transitions close to a live‑band logic while remaining rooted in the DJ format.
