Real Lies
Born in north London around Kev Kharas, Patrick King and Tom Watson, Real Lies have been developing since 2011 a sound situated between synth-pop, alternative dance and balearic beat, combining melodic electronics, softened club rhythms and a spoken-word approach deeply rooted in urban everyday life. Early tracks such as “Deeper”, “World Peace”, “North Circular” and “Dab Housing” quickly established an imagery tied to Holloway, Islington and Haringey, where London’s geography becomes a central material in the songs. After the album Real Life in 2015, Real Lies occasionally expanded their live lineup and circulated their songs in settings ranging from clubs to festivals. A period of reassessment followed, and the project resumed with the single “The Checks” in 2018 and “White Flowers”, recorded with Tom Demac. Since Tom Watson’s departure in 2019, Real Lies has operated as a duo. This new phase led to Lad Ash in 2022, a more introspective record still built around precise, narrative electronic pop, and to We Will Annihilate Our Enemies in 2025.
