Ocean Alley

Formed in 2011 on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Ocean Alley brings together six musicians — Baden Donegal, Angus Goodwin, Lach Galbraith, Mitch Galbraith, Tom O’Brien and Nic Blom — around a sound that blends psychedelic rock, surf rock, reggae, dub and funk into an accessible alternative‑pop format. The band first made a name for itself in Australia with a series of EPs before releasing the album Lost Tropics in 2016, then expanded its audience with Chiaroscuro in 2018, where it refined a more melodic songwriting approach and looser rhythms, often carried by expansive guitars, hazy keyboards and a prominent bass. This approach continued on Lonely Diamond (2020) and Low Altitude Living (2022), in a vein where relaxed atmospheres coexist with more direct structures. In 2025 Ocean Alley added a fifth album, Love Balloon. Rooted in the Australian alternative scene but circulating widely internationally, Ocean Alley has built a steady trajectory across festivals, tours and studio releases, with a sonic identity centred on psychedelic textures, dub inflections and a slow yet precise groove.
