Old Mervs

Born in Kojonup, a small rural town in Western Australia, Old Mervs pairs David House on vocals and guitar with Henry Carrington-Jones on drums and backing vocals — two childhood friends who have played together since 2017. The duo operates within an Australian indie-rock vein that blends alternative rock and surf rock: short, melodic, and direct songs driven by bright guitars, a taut rhythm, and straightforward songwriting. After several years performing across regional towns and more urban venues in Western Australia, Old Mervs gained recognition on the local and national independent circuit, notably via Triple J Unearthed, before releasing the EP Get Better in 2022 and Give It Up in 2023. In 2025 they released their self-titled debut album, Old Mervs, which extends this formula with rock energy, immediate choruses, and a sunny tonal quality. Old Mervs’ trajectory remains tied to their regional roots as much as to the contemporary Australian indie scene, built through gigging, touring, and a tight two-piece format.
